Abstract

Our PhD candidate Aldo Arévalo attended the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s (SCCM) 49th Critical Care Congress in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center. Specifically, for the datathon session held on February 14th and 15th of 2020. He worked in a team composed of clinicians, health entrepreneurs and data scientist to find associations between blood glucose on neurologically ill patients in the ICU. They found that hyperglycaemia is associated with higher mortality and that association is stronger with patients diagnosed with diabetes. From this collaboration may be produced shortly a journal paper. We will keep you posted about this. Datathons have demonstrated to be an effective way to bring talented multidisciplinary teams together to analyze and interpret health data. Our colleagues at IS4 have shown in different editions their skills and their capabilities to work with several professionals from different backgrounds and cultures.
